A
little about the Cedric Master.
The Cedric
Master was long aware of existence of the Nissan Cedric, when he was younger
there was still the occasional Cedric seen on the road, they were never
a common sight but you would see one every couple of months. Of particular
interest to the Cedric Master was the 31 series Cedric, this was of particular
interesting to him, being totally unlike any Nissan or Datsun he had ever
seen before. They remained only a passing interest to him until one fateful
day about 12 years ago. The Cedric Master was restoring a 1965 Nissan Silvia
at the time, and he wanted a bigger engine to replace the Silvia's 1600cc
unit. He had read that the Cedric's 1900cc engine would fit straight into
a Silvia, so he went off on a tour of wrecking yards in search of a Cedric
motor. Not far from where he lived he found 2 Cedrics languishing at the
back of a wrecking yard. One was a 31 series Mark 2 Cedric sedan and the
other was a 31 series Mark 2 wagon. The wagon appeared to have a good looking
engine, so he set about removing the engine from the remains of the Cedric.
About 1/2 an hour later ugly black clouds began to gather overhead, and
shortly afterwards the heavens opened up and it began to rain. This wasn't
just a light shower, this was a torrential downpour. He scrambled for the
closest shelter he could find, which was the cabin of the Cedric wagon
he was taking the engine out of. The rain storm continued for nearly an
hour, he had little choice but to just sit there and wait for it to finish.
While there he started to look around the inside of the Cedric, and quickly
started to realise what a cool car this was. After an hour trapped in the
Cedric, exploring the detail of the interior and admiring the quality of
the workmanship, he was hooked, from that moment he knew he would own a
Cedric, one day.
.
Several
years had passed, the Cedric Master owned a 1966 Datsun Fairlady, a 1965
Nissan Silvia and a 1964 Datsun 320 pick-up at that point in time, when
his wife mentioned the two words that so often throw things into chaos,
"I'm Pregnant!". The joy of learning they were about to have a baby was
overcome later in the day with a state of panic when he realised that the
three cars he owned were all 2 seaters with no room for a baby. It was
obvious they needed a new family car with room for "Junior Cedric Master",
but what would they get? Suddenly he realised he now had the excuse to
buy the Cedric he had longed for since that fateful day. After a long search
he found his Cedric, a 31 series Mark 2. A little while later he found
a 31 series Mark 1 sedan for sale, remembering the old saying "why buy
one when you can have two for twice the price", he bought that as well.
As is often the case, when you put two of the same species together they
will multiply, soon his little piece of Planet Cedric had even more Cedrics.
When it was at it's best (or worst according to Mrs. Cedric Master) the
Cedric Master's collection numbered 6 Cedrics.
Over
the years the Cedric Master has spent countless hours restoring Cedrics,
working on Cedrics, researching Cedrics and collecting anything to do with
Cedrics. Over the course of many years he has accumulated a vast knowledge
of all things Cedric, and now he is happy to pass that knowledge on to
you. If you have any questions about Nissan Cedrics, just click here and
ask the
Cedric Master !
When
asking the Cedric Master a question please remember to -
1/ Give
as much information about the model of Cedric you need information on as
possible.
2/ Let
the Cedric Master know approximately where you are (at least what country
you are from), unlike Planet Cedric the Earth is a big place.
3/ Ask
only questions about the "classic" model Cedrics (30, 31 and 130 series,
1960 to 1970), the Cedric Master knows little about the newer model Cedrics.
As well
as asking questions, please feel free to just write to the Cedric Master
and say "Hi". Also feel free to give feedback, tell the Cedric Master what
you think about Planet Cedric, if there is anything you would like to see
changed or added to Planet Cedric please write.
